I was looking through the newest (or the newest one I could find) popteen magazine online. They ran a very cool monthly where they ranked the top couple of questions their readers had regarding getting the holy grail of perfect Smokey Eyes (???). I will write up and translate all the bits of that article that I found particularly enlightening.
I also recommend that you go search on youtube for some double eyelid tutorials, its much easier to make sense of it once you see it done. The whole process is fast and very easy, but of course will take a bit of practice if you have never shaped a double eyelid for yourself before.
Getting the double eyelids you always wanted (without surgery)
Although surgery is a legitimate option (ask your Korean girl friends) if you can’t afford the plane ticket there just yet than there is a simple fix that requires no more than a bit of double sided tape.

How to get easy double eyelids in 7 steps… or less
- Pre-set the double eyelid line.Use the pusher (that should have come with your double eyelid pack) to decide on where you want the double eyelid line to be. Push your eyelids back so that no more than half of your eyeballs are visible (no deer in headlights please).
- Stretch the double eyelid tape. Gently hold the tape between your fingers and give it a good stretch. You want to stretch the tape slightly longer than the actually double eyelid line to get the best hold.
- Ok now we try and apply the tape. Stay with me this part is tricky. You want to use your fingers to pull up your eyelid so there is space for you to insert the tape. All you do is pull right up the middle of your eyelid than apply the tape so that it follows the oval of your double eyelid line.
- Now trim any excess double eyelid tape from the outer corner of your eye
- Now trim any excess double eyelid tape on the inside corner of your eye
- Now tuck the ends neatly into your double lid line
- Open your eyes slowly, the tape should adhere and give you a nice double eyelid look. If it doesn’t work than try again.
- Extra credit: If you just want to make the inside corner of the eyes a little bit bigger, you can just cut a small finger width portion of double eyelid tape and apply it directly to the corners.
What Do I Do If You Can’t Do It (Help)
- You could also try using some pre-curved double eyelid tape if you find the stretchy stuff too hard to apply.
- You can buy a glue which you paint onto your whole eyelid and as the glue dries you push your eyelids in to create a double eyelid shape.
