Do you know how to style your hair to get the most airy and gorgeous gyaru hair curls imaginable? If not (who does?) I have recently spent the last couple of days pouring over youtube and veoh vidoes to find some hair styling tutorials. So far the best one I have found is this one on veoh. I have taken the liberty to re upload it on youtube and subtitled all the video captions!
From the video here are some tips to achieve the best style for your curly hair cuts.
- Section hair, its a pain to do but the results are always far better when you don’t have bits of hair interfering with each other.
- Learn how to curl properly. At the end of the video it address common issues such as frizzy hair and bad curling techniques that don’t get the look you want
- Get the pro curling technique, start curling from the middle of the hair length then pull down and wrap up, pull down and wrap up until you reach the ends. Sounds complicated but it makes more sense once you see the video.

i’m so glad i found this blog and that you posted this video!
not necessarily because it’s dedicated to gyaru, but seriously this is stuff no fashion magazine in the states ever tells you about how to CORRECTLY curl your hair.
Wow, this looks great!
I’m gonna try this myself when I get myself a new curler. But I’m not sure what kind of curler I should get, since there are different sizes of curlers.. do you have any tips?
xo
If you want big curls the standard size is 32MM, a smaller curler around 19mm will get you more defined curls.

In japan they actually have curlers with replaceable barrel sizes, I dunno how effective they actually work but the option is there. The brand is Tsuyagla.
Otherwise maybe an all size magic curling wand, like the new one introduced by cloud9 might be something you might be interested in as well. But watch out, this one requires you to wear heat proof gloves as the curler is missing the usual depressing tongue (hence wand)
Lots of different options to try out!
If you already have a hair straightener than you may want to experiment with that to create some curls, most new models have rounded barrels.
